Dear Camp Kupugani Families,
We’re Jeff and Lonnie, directors of Swift Nature Camp in Wisconsin—and friends of Kevin and Tasha for nearly 20 years. Like many of you, we were saddened to hear that Camp Kupugani is coming to a close. We’ve long admired Kevin and Tasha’s deep commitment to creating a camp that empowers young people to grow in identity, empathy, and confidence. Their work has made a meaningful and lasting impact in the camp world, and we hold it in the highest regard.
Over the years, our friendship has grown through shared values and conversations about how to help kids become their best selves. We’ve even had the privilege of seeing the connection firsthand—years ago, Mico joined us at Swift Nature Camp as a camper! That early link has always made us feel a little like extended Kupugani family.
As Kevin and Tasha turn the page on this chapter, we wanted to extend a warm welcome to you and your children. If you’re looking for a new summer home that shares a similar heart, we hope you’ll consider Swift Nature Camp.
For 30 years, SNC has been a place where children ages 6–15 disconnect from screens, explore the natural world, and grow through kindness, creativity, and community. Like Camp Kupugani, we believe camp should be a space where every child feels safe, celebrated, and inspired to make a difference. Our sessions are intentionally small, and our supportive staff help each camper build confidence and character in an inclusive, unplugged environment.
We know we’re a bit farther north—but the experience is worth the journey. There’s something truly special about spending summer in the Northwoods: seeing the stars like never before, hearing loons call across the lake, watching an eagle soar overhead, or just taking a deep breath of fresh pine air. To make things easier, we offer motor coach transportation from the Chicago area directly to camp, helping your child arrive safely and ready for adventure.
At SNC, we offer a mix of classic camp fun and unique activities designed to spark curiosity and creativity. Campers can canoe, swim, shoot archery, fish, hike, and explore nature—then turn around and cuddle a bunny at our petting zoo, build a LEGO masterpiece, conduct a science experiment, or take care of animals in our nature center. There’s even time for zany skits, cabin games, and silly songs around the campfire. These experiences aren’t just fun—they help children become more independent, responsible, empathetic, and resilient.
A little about us: We’re not just camp directors—we’re educators, parents, and lifelong believers in the power of camp. We’re hands-on all summer long, whether we’re helping with crafts, leading a song, or sitting down one-on-one with a camper who needs a friend.
We know transitions can be hard—especially when saying goodbye to a place as special as Camp Kupugani. But if your family is looking for a camp that shares Kupugani’s commitment to growth and diversity, we would love to connect with you.
What we can offer is a new adventure—a chance for your child to have fun, be safe and continue discovering who they are in a warm, inclusive, and nature-filled setting.
